It is the true Kiwi road trip experience! Our small group tours in New Zealand have a maximum size of 12 people. We keep the tours short (4 to 10 days), so we can experience and explore local gems and have the roady life while balancing our other life commitments.
All transport, accommodation, and activities are included. All breakfasts and most dinners are also included, as well as lunch when we are in remote locations. When we stop for lunch at restaurants and breweries, we give guests the opportunity to indulge as much or as little as they like (at their own cost) in the local cuisine.
We use a variety of accommodation, from entire beach houses, ski lodges, cabins, to private hostel dorms/twin rooms. To create a ‘community vibe’, rooms are shared but exclusive to our group. This means you will be sharing your room but only with people on our tour. Our Northland tours are dorm share and our South Island tours are twin share.
Our Northland tour trips start and finish in Auckland. Our South Island tours start and finish in Christchurch.
No, You must take out comprehensive travel insurance prior to the tour departure date if you are internationally travelling to New Zealand for this tour. If requested by your tour guide, you must produce evidence of your travel insurance prior to the commencement of the tour.
Absolutely! We highly recommend people join these tours by themselves to embrace the full experience of meeting new friends, trying new things, and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. We also love couples joining our tours and a group of friends too. We welcome everyone and anyone!
We will all want to have a drink and a good time, of course, but remember we do a lot during the days, and even if you think you can handle it, there will be other people on the tour who want to get some sleep. So please respect the other people on tour, other people in the public, and our accommodation providers throughout our tour together. Drinking in the van is not permitted, especially at the places we visit during the day that have a liquor ban. So please try to save it for the evenings at our accommodations or at the restaurant/bars.
Yes, the itinerary can change due to weather, road closures, or anything else that is out of our control. But we have procedures and plans in place for when this does happen. Don’t worry, we got you sorted.
We cater to most dietary requirements, please just let us know when you book! We are also confident the menus at our lunch stops are all diverse enough to satisfy whatever you may crave.
No, flights to your starting destination are not included and these will need to be booked yourself. However, we will be at the airport to meet you once you land.
We ask that you bring a medium-sized bag for our 4 and 7-day tours and one large-sized bag for our 10-day tour. The medium/large bag for your clothes and general belongings, and we recommend taking 1 small day bag to keep with you on the bus. New Zealand weather can be unpredictable, so make sure you bring swimwear and a towel, as well as warm clothes and a rain-jacket. All bedding is provided, but you can bring your favourite pillow if you like. And don’t forget your camera and chargers, don’t want you to miss out on all the photo opportunities.
Our owner/founder Jason is running the tours so he can be hands-on and give his customers the full experience he created. We will also have new tour guides joining our team too. Check out our about us page to learn more!
We break up the driving as best as we can. Usually, we do no more than 4-5 hours of driving in a day and try not to go more than 1.5 hours in one go without a stop. We want the ride to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for you, but sometimes there will be exceptions to this.
Deposits are non-refundable, but we understand that stuff happens. Full payment is not due until 14 days out from the trip departure date, so if you have paid in full before this point and things change, we will refund you in full (less the deposit). Cancellations within 7 days of tour departure cannot be refunded. In the event that you need to cancel, for whatever reason, please get in touch directly as soon as you can.
We will still run a tour for sure, we can’t control the weather unfortunately but we can plan around it. We have backup plans always in case of bad weather. For example, if it’s raining on the day we want to go sandboarding then we will replace the activity with surf lessons the next day. If Cardrona mountain is closed to weather or whatever reason, we will replace that day with another adventure activity.
For any optional add ons we can help you book the activity of your choice and organise transport to and from these activities. We can take payments for these activities whilst you are on tour with us by using a Portable EFTPOS machine for an easier process. We will make direct contact with the activity providers for you.
