Our Answers to Your Questions

It is the true Kiwi road trip experience! Our small group tours in New Zealand have a maximum size of 12 people. We keep the tours at a slower paced travel style, so in 10 days you can experience our beautiful country not rushed, explore local gems and stay longer in towns to get a feel of the local roady life. For those looking for a bigger trip we have package deal of 20 days which is both our 10 day North Island and South Island tours combined!

All transport, accommodation, and certain activities are included. Most breakfasts are also included, as well as some lunch and dinners when we are in remote locations (depending on which tour you book). When we stop for lunch at small townships with restaurants and breweries, we give guests the opportunity to indulge as much or as little as they like (at their own cost) in the local cuisine.

We mainly use multi-share accommodation, from 4 – 6 bed dorm rooms. To create a community vibe, rooms are shared but not always exclusively to our groups depending on accommodation capacity. This means you will be sharing your room most of the time with people from your tour. All bedding is provided (but you can bring your favourite pillow if you like). We will always keep girls with girls and guys with guys to the best we can!

Our 10 Day North Island Explorer tours and 20 Day New Zealand Adventure start in Auckland and finishes in Wellington. Our 10 Day South Island Explorer tours start and finish in Christchurch. Check out our departure points page for more info on this!

No, You must take out comprehensive travel insurance prior to the tour departure date if you are internationally travelling to New Zealand for this tour. If requested by your tour guide, you must produce evidence of your travel insurance prior to the commencement of the tour.

Absolutely! We highly recommend people join these tours by themselves to embrace the full experience of meeting new friends, trying new things, and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. We also love couples joining our tours and a group of friends too. We welcome everyone and anyone!

Some of us will want to have a drink and a good time, of course, but remember we do a lot during the days, and even if you think you can handle it, there will be other people on the tour who want to get some sleep. So please respect the other people on tour, other people in the public, and our accommodation providers throughout our tour together. Drinking in the van is not permitted, especially at the places we visit during the day that have a liquor ban. So please try to save it for the evenings at our accommodations or at the restaurant/bars.

Yes, the itinerary can change due to weather, road closures, or anything else that is out of our control. But we have procedures and plans in place for when this does happen. Don’t worry, we got you sorted.

We break up the driving as best as we can. Usually, we do no more than 4-5 hours of driving in a day and try not to go more than 1.5 hours in one go without a stop. We want the ride to be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for you, but sometimes there will be exceptions to this.

You have an allowance of 7kg carry-on luggage and 20kg check in luggage whilst on tour with us. This only applies for customers that have booked one of the tours below:

Deposits are non-refundable, but we understand that stuff happens. Full payment is not due until 30 days out from the trip departure date, so if you have paid in full before this point and things change, we will refund you in full (less the deposit). Cancellations within 14 days of tour departure cannot be refunded. In the event that you need to cancel, for whatever reason, please get in touch directly as soon as you can.

We will still run a tour for sure, we can’t control the weather unfortunately, but we can plan around it. We have backup plans always in case of bad weather.

For any optional add ons we can help you book the activity of your choice and organize transport to and from these activities. You can add some activities when booking your tour or if you decide you want to do something whilst on the road with us we will make direct contact with the activity providers for you and book it in for you and you can pay the activity supplier when you arrive!
